On May 24th 1928, Cabby, the last wooden sailing barge ever to be built was launched down the slipways at Strood in the London and Rochester Quarry Yard. From the owners’ shipyard the barge then commenced trading and her illustrious career began.Cabby sailed between London and ports on the East and South Coasts, with occasional trips to the Near Continent.

During the war years Cabby was sent to the Clyde and used for a period as a stores ship having been diverte at the last minute from taking drums of fresh water to the troops at Dunkirk. SB Cabby is now proud to be listed as one of the country’s core vessels of historical importance. Ideal for entertaining and hospitality, Cabby has charm and character by the bucketload. her saloon can seat 32 and in fine weather her open deck and cosy on-deck seating area make her ideal for enjoying the sun and the sights.
