The Thames is Alive with the Sound of Music!

The charming Thames River Cruiser ‘Edwardian’ made the perfect setting for our customer Lorna’s 60th Birthday Party last Sunday. With Champagne flowing and laughter roaring it was a very special occasion and one that Lorna will never forget, and neither will her family and friends!

Following a delicious Hot Fork Buffet served by our excellent caterers Riverside Food and Drink, family members brought out guitars and keyboards for a ‘Von Trapp Family’ style finish to the celebrations!

Topsail’s own Jess Rodway said ‘It was lovely to see all the family and friends together enjoying themselves; it was a really special occasion’

Sailing Barge May this Saturday provided a dramatic backdrop to Stage 8 of the Tour of Britain cycle race. The final stage of the tour this year hosted by the Olympic and Paralympic Borough of Newham involved an action packed 8 lap circuit around the Royal Victoria Docks at Excel London.

The race coincided with the Newham London Waterfront Festival which included live music and a Food Village with stallholders from across London and concluded with a fantastic firework display over the water. The S.B. May hosted a children’s pirate activity workshop run by Emergency Exit Arts as part of the festival.

Topsail Announces Latest Christmas Cruise deals…..

September 16th, 2010 by Guy

It’s been a whirl of activity: our busiest month for ages doing corporate work on the Thames . In the middle of it all we came up with some new deals for our Christmas Cruises and had a regular inspection from the Port of London Health who you will be pleased to know passed us with our usual Four Star rating!

“Our feet have hardly touched the ground” gasped Jessica Rodway a leading light in the Topsail Sales team, this month has been so busy with clients ranging from Diageo to Citigroup and Linklaters .  The latter were particularly flattering:

“It was indeed a joint effort – great thanks to the Partner’s sponsorship and idea, our Events Team and to Topsail for a perfect execution.” Yes, when Tower Bridge was opening up, I thought to myself , ‘Gosh, this makes us feel like Kings…………”

And one of Diageo’s clients sent us this Video of Tower Bridge Opening

Where was our MD when all this was going on?  His weekend of ‘barge maintenance’ on Sailing Barge Will was not quite what it seemed and he was spotted enjoying a rather good 1940’s swimwear and lingerie fashion show in St Katharine’s Dock during the Thames Festival along with fellow skippers……………… hmmmmm.

Another great Tall Ship success with Topsail!

August 26th, 2010 by Guy

Operating the corporate hospitality at the Hartlepool Tall Ships Races this August was many months in the planning and smoothly executed by Sarah ‘The Leader’ Pyatt here at mission control.  Ships from literally all over the world attended – Indonesia, Russia, Oman – and BBC News Tees hailed the whole event a “stunning success”.

Topsail Events organised deck parties, corporate cruises, hospitality and entertainment of every description: from barbecues on deck with singing waiters under the towering masts to cool jazz on the quarter deck with casinos down below! Some lucky corporate guests got the added wow factor of the magnificent Parade of Sail and the spectacular Firework Evenings.

It was a happy, rewarding week on site for all the Topsail team and as our MD Mark Tower commented: “it has all gone extremely well and we are proud to have been part of such a wonderful, special event.” Be sure to check our website for Tall Ships available in London this autumn!

More Tea, Vicar?

English Cream Tea Cruise

Topsail’s English Cream Tea Cruise, a delectable Great British delight, has been very popular this summer, with guests quaffing champagne, sipping tea, and enjoying delicious homemade scones with clotted cream and jam.

Not forgetting the salmon sandwiches, sticky flapjacks, and overflowing bowls of succulent strawberries…yum!

A great way to entertain staff or clients (or the vicar!) and a summery addition to our Thames lunch cruises and Thames dinner cruises.

Our quote of the day:

“A Proper Tea is much nicer than a Very Nearly Tea, which is one you forget about afterwards.”

Tall Ship Hospitality at London International Wine Fair

Tall Ships at the Wine Fair 2010

Will & Atlantis at ExCeL

We had a great, gloriously sunny week at the London International Wine Fair 2010 last week, with two beautiful ships at ExCeL’s quayside for hospitality and corporate events in London.

Two corporate clients had a successful three days entertaining and meeting with clients aboard stunning three-masted barquentine Tall Ship Atlantis, and London’s Sailing Barge Will.

Perhaps at next year’s fair (or for other events at ExCeL) we will have a fleet of four! Any takers?!

Our quote of the week:

“Wine is the most civilized thing in the world…”

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her byp. In his first splendor, valley, rock, or hill; Ne’er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep! The river glideth at his own sweet will.”

World Cup Screenings onboard Will

April 29th, 2010 by Guy
Kick off!

Kick off!

As we all know (even the non-sporting among us!), the FIFA World Cup is nearly upon us. The action may be taking place in South Africa, but why not take the opportunity to treat staff or clients to an intimate World Cup Screening onboard Will, in London’s centrally located St Katharine Docks?

Key dates include England matches on 18th and 23rd June, or the semi final on 6/7th July. Combine the screening with our team building activities, a meeting, or just a drink or three…

Contact Anthony for more details and a bespoke quotation.

Our quote of the week:

“The first 90 minutes of the match are the most important.”

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her byp. In his first splendor, valley, rock, or hill; Ne’er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep! The river glideth at his own sweet will.”

Yesterday’s sunny spring networking event

SB Will in St Katharine Docks

SB Will in St Katharine Docks

We had a fantastic open day aboard SB Will yesterday, a networking event in the spring sunshine at St Katharine Docks. There was a great vibe onboard with lots of hustle and bustle; our MD Mark held a meeting in the saloon and clients popped in and out to network and view the boat.

We met some lovely ladies from Visit London who chatted to us about more ways we can work together. Other great clients included Clearfleau and Corporate Entertainment Consultancy, who came to find out more about our corporate sailing events including our dinner cruises and clay pigeon shooting

Our quote of the week:

“No one has it who isn’t capable of genuinely liking others, at least at the actual moment of meeting and speaking. Charm is always genuine; it may be superficial but it isn’t fake.”

It’s Easter, how egg-citing!

Sarah & Lucy Lamb

Sarah & Lucy Lamb

It’s nearly Easter weekend, so we all pulled names out of a hat for a ‘secret bunny’, and swapped easter eggs in the office this morning. Sarah received a chocolate Lucy Lamb and has so far just eaten the (white chocolate) feet… Yum!

So now Lent is over, why not take a look at our egg-citing food & drink based corporate sailing events on the river here – from sushi making team building with Tsuru to Italian cooking parties with La Cucina Caldesi. Double yum!

Our quote of the week:

“Well pleaseth me the sweet time of Easter, That maketh the leaf and the flower come out”

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her byp. In his first splendor, valley, rock, or hill; Ne’er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep! The river glideth at his own sweet will.”

Happy Easter everyone – have a great holiday weekend!
