March 23rd, 2011 by Guy

moving office

It’s a busy week in the Topsail office as we prepare for our big move on Monday. The Topsail team are moving headquarters to a great new location right on the Brighton seafront and with the beautiful Spring weather everyone’s getting rather excited about the prospect of picnics on the beach and ice creams in the office! Whilst our main office remains in Brighton we will continue to run operations in London from the Sailing Barge Will in St Katherine’s Dock and Topsail MD, Mark Tower, is positive about continuing to build Topsail’s presence in the corporate events market in London. Mark said: ‘It’s looking like a busy year and we’re very keen to keep a high profile in London this summer in the lead up to the London Olympics 2012. We will be running a series of FAM trips this spring to promote our new range of British Food Cruises in collaboration with Forman and Field which we will be launching next week, so watch this space!’

Life in the fast lane

Congratulations to our Sales Manager Sarah for completing the Eastbourne Half Marathon this weekend! A rather smug Sarah said: ‘It’s great when you set yourself a challenge and achieve your goals!’ We look forward to motivational team talks every morning for the next few months!

Sarah and Jess also headed to the International Confex exhibition at Earl’s Court last week keeping their fingers on the pulse of the events industry in the UK. Jess commented: It was great to put faces with names and continue to strengthen business relationships as well as make new ones. But off the record we know it was really all about the freebies!

As Spring approaches why not consider a networking event that everyone will remember on the Thames? Contact Sarah for more.

Another Day in the Office…

March 1st, 2011 by Guy

Everyone in the Topsail office is glowing after a staff trip to Meribel last weekend! Team Topsail: Mark, Sofia, Jess, Sarah and Ant  jetted off to the French 3 Vallees resort of Merribel for a cheeky three days on the slopes filled with sunshine, skiing and a lot of cheese!

Sarah said ‘It was a great team building trip with a lot of laughs! Is Topsail the best company ever to work for?!’ But now that the bar’s been set so high there’s pressure from certain members of the sales team to make this an annual event!

For great staff incentive ideas a little closer to home check out our wide range of Team Building events on the Thames like Clay Pigeon Shooting or Spy Force Challenge onboard one of our beautiful Sailing Barges.

And with our sales team in such high spirits you might just get that special discount you were looking for… contact Sarah for more…

Cooking up a Storm

Wine and Food Academy

Topsail kicked off the New Year with another great event in collaboration with The Wine and Food Academy. Despite the January weather guests in the cosy wood-paneled saloon of Sailing Barge Will cooked up a feast under the expert supervision of the Academy’s trained Chefs.

And to compliment their handy work we provided a selection of wines with each course and commentary from the Academy’s expert wine tutor. The whole evening was a roaring success and our client Lucy from Sports Vision commented:  “We had an amazing time and everybody loved it!”

We offer a range of fun and interactive Food and Drink Cruises  catering for all tastes, from Italian Cooking to Sushi Making. Alternatively contact Jess with your ideas and we’ll arrange a bespoke cooking event for any occasion.

Winter Wonderland

London Snow

As London was brought to a stand still by the heavy snow there was one place where business continued as usual,- the River Thames!  (Although our event manager Jess did have to spend the night onboard ‘Will’ as the disruptions to rail services left her stranded in London!)

And as Christmas Party season gets into full swing, more clients are enjoying the warm and inviting wood-panelled saloons of our Sailing Barges like ‘Will’ and the excellent hospitality offered onboard.

David Beard, of Simpson Spence and Young, a repeat client, said: ‘despite the snow, it was a great event; but then over many years with you guys we have NEVER had a bad event!!’

Happy Christmas from all the Topsail team!

Success in Norway!

November 16th, 2010 by Guy

sarah BlogJust because the winters coming doesn’t mean we take our foot off the gas! Last weekend saw Topsail’s senior management decamp to Stavanger in Norway to take part in the Sail Training International Conference 2010.

Our MD Mark Tower was asked to present a paper on Corporate Hospitality to port organisations and ship managers on our recent experiences at Harlepool as a Host Port in the Tall Ships Races 2010. Our Senior Sales and Operations Coordinator, Sarah Pyatt, caught up with many of the Tall Ships community to discuss work past, present and future we have for them in the UK.

Mark commented “it was a very worthwhile trip, keeping Topsail’s profile high amongst this important international (29 nations) maritime community, developing ideas and opportunities with Tall Ships up to London 2012.”

All in all a great success rounded off, much to Sarah’s delight, with a cruise up the Fijords for a bit informal networking with fellow delegates. It may be tough times but we just wanted you to know she’s on the case 24/7 to get new cruise opportunities to the UK market!
